The Relative

About The Relative

Your people make the news.

The Relative is a family newspaper service run by The Relative Newspaper Ltd. It turns text, voice notes and photographs from your people into a private quarterly newspaper. Special Editions are a separate collection of one-off personalised newspaper-style print requests for weddings, engagements and birthdays.

The ongoing family catch-up

Private family newspapers

Relatives or friends share their own updates and photographs. The reporter shapes them into an online edition and downloadable PDF, with review before the newspaper is released to the group.

One adult pays £19.99 once for a first edition, £19.99 every three months or £79.96 a year for four editions for up to 20 adult contributors. The quarterly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Professional printing and postal delivery are not included and are not yet available to order.

A single occasion

Special Editions

A proposal, a wedding or a milestone birthday becomes one newspaper-style front page. One person supplies the brief and photograph, with exact quotations and smaller stories gathered with permission.

There is no subscription. Requests are free while the physical product is being confirmed; no paid print order is placed by submitting the form.

Your facts. Your voices. A newspaper, not a fabrication.

Our AI-assisted reporter helps shape supplied material into readable articles. The starting point is the information your family provides, not an invented version of their lives. A quiet quarter and a short update can stay that way.

Write from the material supplied
Use the names, events, dates and context in the contribution. Missing information should be clarified or left out, rather than filled with plausible details.
Keep quotations exact
A quotation belongs in quotation marks only when those words were supplied. A summary or paraphrase should not be presented as something a person said.
Label examples honestly
Public sample stories and people are fictional. AI-created sample photographs are labelled. Samples demonstrate the format; they are not customer reviews or evidence of a finished physical product.
Review before release
Family newspapers go through checks and editorial review before release. For Special Editions, the online view is an illustrative layout; final wording, photo crop and design are agreed separately before printing.

The stories are for your people.

Original family updates are restricted to the contributor and editorial operations. Members see the finished newspaper after release. Family papers and private submissions are not published as search pages or used as public examples.

Special Edition requests and photographs go privately to the team. A guest request stays with the same browser session; a signed-in request is linked to the account. Replies appear in My requests, without automatic email notifications.

Read the privacy notice for access, retention and removal details. Do not include anything the people involved would not be comfortable sharing.

A few direct answers.

Who runs The Relative?

The service operator is The Relative Newspaper Ltd. The public contact address is hello@therelative.co.uk.

Do we have to write finished articles?

No. Family contributors can send text or voice notes and photographs. Special Editions start with written memories or bullet points and an optional photograph. The editorial process shapes that material into newspaper copy.

Is it a public news publisher?

No. The family service is for private group updates. The one-off prints use The Relative’s own newspaper-style design to celebrate a person or event; they are not reproductions of national newspapers.

Try one of your own stories

Got a little update in mind? Try it.

Record or type a short story in the free preview. No account or payment needed. See the writing style before you decide.

The preview creates one sample article, not a complete newspaper or a print-ready proof. Your full family edition is prepared and reviewed separately from the updates you and your people submit.
