A family newspaper brings the news from different households into one edition. The Relative turns your family’s text, voice notes and photographs into newspaper articles, using your supplied facts and quotes. One adult pays £29 every three months or £99 a year for four editions for the whole family or group, with up to 20 adult contributors. Each edition includes an online newspaper and a downloadable PDF to keep or print at home.

The moments between the milestones

What could your first edition look like?

A wedding might lead the front page. Beside it could be a cousin’s new flat, a grandparent’s garden, a recipe everyone keeps asking for and the dog’s latest adventure. A quiet quarter belongs in the paper too: a few good photographs and small stories can say plenty about family life.

These are ideas, not a promised contents list. The newspaper is shaped by your contributions and editorial checks. Read the fictional Harper Herald sample to see how stories, photographs and shorter items sit together.

Family newspaper questions

What is a family newspaper?

A family newspaper brings the news from different households together in one edition: new jobs, weddings, holidays, pets, recipes and the little things people would tell each other over lunch. The Relative makes a private newspaper from your family’s text, voice notes and photographs.

How much does The Relative cost?

One adult pays £29 every three months or £99 a year for four editions for the whole family or group, with up to 20 adult contributors. Each edition includes an online newspaper and a downloadable PDF to keep or print at home. Both subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. The quarterly plan is £116 over a full year; the annual plan saves £17. Payment is required from the first edition.

How do I make a family newspaper?

Verify your email, choose a plan and pay securely through Stripe. Then enter your name, name your newspaper and invite your people. Each adult shares their own text or voice-note update and photographs. The reporter prepares the articles, and the newspaper is reviewed and approved before release.

Does everyone in the family have to pay?

No. One adult pays for the whole family or group, including up to 20 adult contributors. Each contributor uses their own verified email. Children and pets can appear through an adult’s update, with no extra contributor charge.

Do we have to write the articles ourselves?

No. Send three or four things you would tell the family over lunch, as text or a voice note, and add photographs with a little context. Our AI-assisted reporter writes from those supplied facts and exact quotes. A short update can stay short; the process includes source checks and review before the edition is released.

What is included in the newspaper?

Your family’s articles and photographs in an online newspaper and downloadable PDF. The newspaper can also include family notices, recipes, pets, a crossword, a quiz and a cartoon. Content depends on the contributions and editorial checks; you can read a fictional sample before starting.

Can I order professionally printed copies?

The current subscription includes a digital newspaper and a PDF you can print yourself. Professional printing, gift packaging and postal delivery are not available to order yet. Register interest on the Printed copies page for updates; print prices and delivery dates are not confirmed.

Register interest in printed copies

Is it a good gift for grandparents?

It can be a personal birthday or Christmas gift for grandparents who enjoy keeping up with the family. Relatives share their recent news and photographs, and you can give the recipient a copy of the finished PDF printed at home. Collect contributions and allow time for review; a specific birthday or Christmas delivery date is not guaranteed.

Can friends and relatives living abroad contribute?

Yes. Friends can use the same group setup as families, and contributors can share their updates online from different places. The interface calls the group a family, but you can give your newspaper its own name. The website and fictional sample offer English and Spanish; family newspapers and invitation emails are currently prepared in English.

Who can see our stories?

Your original updates, recordings and unpublished stories are available to you and the service’s editorial operations. The organiser manages contributor progress; members see the finished newspaper after release. Family newspapers are private and are not published as public examples or search pages.

Before you subscribe

Is a family newspaper right for your people?

It suits a family or group who would enjoy a shared catch-up and are happy to send a small update every three months. One adult organises the start; everyone supplies the stories they want to share. Grandparents can enjoy a copy of the PDF you print yourself, while relatives elsewhere read online.

Choose another gift if you need something ready immediately with no contributions to collect. A newspaper needs preparation, checks and review. For a birthday or Christmas handover, check your intended date with us before making plans.
