THE SPECIAL REPORT • Amelia & James

She said yes. The family went wild.

A favourite walk, one carefully kept secret and a new chapter for Amelia and James.

Illustrative seaside photograph for the fictional engagement example
Amelia & James · A day and a story worth keeping.

James had spent weeks planning the question. Amelia thought they were taking their favourite walk by the sea. Then an ordinary afternoon became a day they would always remember.

The answer was yes. Calls to the family followed, along with a photograph of the ring and several messages written entirely in capital letters.

For friends who had watched the relationship unfold, the news was a reason to celebrate. For the couple, it was the beginning of everything they still had to look forward to.

Made around their people

What is a engagement newspaper print?

A personalised engagement newspaper celebrates the proposal with the couple’s own photograph, the story behind the question and messages from their people. The Relative Special Editions turn those details into a one-off newspaper-style print, rather than an announcement with names added.

An engagement edition tells the couple’s own story. It is not an archive newspaper from the date of the proposal and it does not copy a national publisher’s front page or masthead. The Relative uses its own newspaper identity.

The details only you would know

What to put in their edition.

01

Before the question

How they met, a favourite first-date memory and the little rituals that make the relationship theirs. A short timeline gives the story a beginning.

02

The proposal report

Who proposed, where it happened and what was actually said. Include the date and an exact quote only when someone remembers and approves the words.

03

Family reaction

The first person they called, a congratulatory message or the friend who almost gave away the surprise. Keep the humour affectionate.

Before you begin

A little preparation.
A much better story.

For a surprise gift, collect a photograph and memories discreetly from someone close to the couple. Check that they are happy for the engagement to be shared before using any details publicly. Your request itself goes privately to the team.

Gather one favourite JPEG or PNG photograph, up to 8 MB, and a few bullet points. A photo is optional for the first request. Share only material you have permission to use, and avoid details the recipient would not want included.

The example above is fictional, not a customer testimonial or a finished print. The online layout is not the final proof.

Useful answers

Before their
big headline.

What makes an engagement newspaper personal?

The detail behind the announcement: their first meeting, the proposal, an exact quote and the reactions of the people who know them. One contributor can gather those details with permission and send them in a free request.

How much do Special Editions cost?

Indicative launch prices are £79 for a framed print or £39 for a print only, with UK delivery planned to be included. Additional matching framed copies are planned at £49 each. These are not confirmed sale prices. Requests are free; the final size, finish, total price and delivery must be agreed before payment.

Can I order and pay today?

You can send a free request with your story and photograph today. Paid print orders are not open yet. We must confirm the physical print and frame, final price and delivery before asking for payment. Sending a request does not commit you to buying.

What size is the newspaper print?

The preferred print size is 25 × 35 cm (250 × 350 mm), larger than A4 and smaller than A3. The frame adds to the outside dimensions. The size and frame are confirmed before payment. The off-white border is part of the artwork; a separate mount is not included.

Do I need to write the articles?

No. Share memories, facts or bullet points. The editorial team shapes your material into newspaper copy. Only supplied facts and exact quotations should be used, and you approve the final proof before printing. The planned edition includes a digital proof and one correction round.

Is the online preview my finished proof?

No. The online view is an illustrative layout. Your supplied text may be excerpted to fit the preview. The final wording, photograph crop and design are checked separately with you before printing.

How will I see the team’s reply?

Replies appear in My requests. A signed-in request is linked to your Relative account. Guest requests stay with the same browser session and do not transfer to another browser or a later login. Verified account customers receive an email when the team replies; guest requests use their private browser session.

Does the £19.99 digital family newspaper include this print?

No. The £19.99 digital edition includes one online family newspaper and a downloadable PDF. It does not include a Special Edition, a frame, professional printing or delivery. Special Editions have their own free request process and indicative pricing.

How is this different from a family newspaper?

A family newspaper brings updates from several households into a private online edition and downloadable PDF. You can buy a first digital edition once or choose an optional subscription. A Special Edition is one personalised front-page display print about an engagement, wedding or birthday; it is not a multi-page newspaper or a subscription.

Can you guarantee delivery for a birthday or wedding?

No delivery date is guaranteed at the free-request stage. Paid Special Edition orders are not open yet. Add your hoped-for gift date to the request; the team must confirm availability, the physical finish, final price and delivery before payment.
