THE SPECIAL REPORT • Peter’s special edition

The man. The myth. The birthday.

Family and friends celebrate the stories and sayings that make Peter one of a kind.

Illustrative birthday photograph accompanying a fictional family story
Peter’s special edition · A day and a story worth keeping.

Peter has spent years making the people around him laugh. This time, it was their turn to put him in the spotlight, gathering the stories that make him unmistakably Peter.

There were familiar sayings, memorable adventures and affectionate disagreements about who remembered them correctly. The best stories were not necessarily the biggest occasions.

For the family, this edition is a celebration of the person behind the photographs: the advice, the encouragement and the everyday moments that became part of their shared history.

Made around their people

What is a birthday newspaper print?

A personalised birthday newspaper celebrates the person, not just the date. The Relative Special Editions combine their photograph, favourite stories, familiar sayings and messages from friends or family in a single newspaper-style print, with no subscription.

This is a newly written page about the birthday person. It is not an original newspaper from their date of birth, and it does not promise historical headlines or celebrity facts. The best material comes from the people who actually know them.

The details only you would know

What to put in their edition.

01

A life in headlines

A handful of meaningful moments, not a complete biography. Include adventures, passions, achievements and the ordinary kindnesses people remember.

02

The family’s verdict

A favourite saying or a short message in the speaker’s own words. Identify who said it and get permission to include it.

03

The affectionate details

The signature dish, a long-running hobby, an in-joke or a legendary holiday. Leave out anything the recipient would find embarrassing or unkind.

Before you begin

A little preparation.
A much better story.

The same approach works for a 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th or another milestone birthday. Tell us the age only if the recipient is happy to have it printed. Add the hoped-for gift date to the request; the team must confirm timing before you rely on it.

Gather one favourite JPEG or PNG photograph, up to 8 MB, and a few bullet points. A photo is optional for the first request. Share only material you have permission to use, and avoid details the recipient would not want included.

The example above is fictional, not a customer testimonial or a finished print. The online layout is not the final proof.

Useful answers

Before their
big headline.

Is this a newspaper from the day someone was born?

No. It is a new personalised newspaper-style front page about the recipient, using their own stories and photograph. A birthday date or age can be included, but archive news from that day is not part of the product.

How much do Special Editions cost?

Indicative launch prices are £79 for a framed print or £39 for a print only, with UK delivery planned to be included. Additional matching framed copies are planned at £49 each. These are not confirmed sale prices. Requests are free; the final size, finish, total price and delivery must be agreed before payment.

Can I order and pay today?

You can send a free request with your story and photograph today. Paid print orders are not open yet. We must confirm the physical print and frame, final price and delivery before asking for payment. Sending a request does not commit you to buying.

What size is the newspaper print?

The preferred print size is 25 × 35 cm (250 × 350 mm), larger than A4 and smaller than A3. The frame adds to the outside dimensions. The size and frame are confirmed before payment. The off-white border is part of the artwork; a separate mount is not included.

Do I need to write the articles?

No. Share memories, facts or bullet points. The editorial team shapes your material into newspaper copy. Only supplied facts and exact quotations should be used, and you approve the final proof before printing. The planned edition includes a digital proof and one correction round.

Is the online preview my finished proof?

No. The online view is an illustrative layout. Your supplied text may be excerpted to fit the preview. The final wording, photograph crop and design are checked separately with you before printing.

How will I see the team’s reply?

Replies appear in My requests. A signed-in request is linked to your Relative account. Guest requests stay with the same browser session and do not transfer to another browser or a later login. Verified account customers receive an email when the team replies; guest requests use their private browser session.

Does the £19.99 digital family newspaper include this print?

No. The £19.99 digital edition includes one online family newspaper and a downloadable PDF. It does not include a Special Edition, a frame, professional printing or delivery. Special Editions have their own free request process and indicative pricing.

How is this different from a family newspaper?

A family newspaper brings updates from several households into a private online edition and downloadable PDF. You can buy a first digital edition once or choose an optional subscription. A Special Edition is one personalised front-page display print about an engagement, wedding or birthday; it is not a multi-page newspaper or a subscription.

Can you guarantee delivery for a birthday or wedding?

No delivery date is guaranteed at the free-request stage. Paid Special Edition orders are not open yet. Add your hoped-for gift date to the request; the team must confirm availability, the physical finish, final price and delivery before payment.
